Building a Better
Community
The Crestwood at Parkside Civic League is dedicated to promoting social welfare, civic engagement, and community service. Together, we enhance the quality of life for all residents.
What is a Civic League?
A Civic League is a non-profit, neighborhood-based organization that works to promote the civic, social, and economic well-being of its community members. Their primary goal is to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood, which includes a broad range of activities, such as community development, social gatherings, and addressing local concerns. Civic Leagues offer residents a platform to advocate for their shared interests and help amplify their voices in local governance, especially in areas that go beyond the scope of voting. Civic Leagues have NO POLITICAL AFFILIATION

What purpose does a Civic League serve?
The purpose of Civic Leagues includes:
- Community Improvement: Civic Leagues often work on projects that enhance local infrastructure, improve safety, and create a better living environment for residents.
- Advocacy and Representation: They serve as a collective voice for neighborhood concerns, representing residents in discussions with local government, developers, and other stakeholders.
- Social and Cultural Activities: They facilitate gatherings, events, and initiatives that foster a sense of community and build social connections among neighbors.
- Ethical and Good Governance: Civic Leagues advocate for responsible leadership and promote good governance practices within their communities.
- Citizen Empowerment: They enable residents to actively engage in the decision-making process, helping them influence the direction of local policies and projects that affect their daily lives.
- Examples of Civic Leagues include neighborhood associations, community development corporations, and other local non-profit organizations. These groups can vary in size, from small, grassroots initiatives to larger, more established entities, but they all share the common goal of improving their communities.
- Established in 1913, Civic Leagues were created to provide citizens with a platform for addressing issues in their neighborhoods, and their legacy continues to play an important role in local civic life today.

Please consider attending our monthly meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of every month to stay up-to-date on issues that concern all of us.
